org/wiki/Flexner_Report )), then, not only should one’s allopathic doctor “market” flu shots to you and your children, and, not only should the chain pharmacies “market” flu shots to you and your children,… the local grubmint should also “market”... The battle over vaccination has taken a fascinating new twist in Rhode Island, where the Department of Health has proposed a policy under which all children between 6 months and 5 years of age would have to be vaccinated against the flu before... 14 to 16 Years dT. *Change in Measles Vaccination :The American Academy of Pediatricians recommended a booster dose of Measles Vaccine to be administered as the MMR, and to be given to children in the Middle School, i. e. , at the age of 10 or 11... (Minimum age: 6 months for inactivated influenza vaccine [IIV], 2 years for live, attenuated influenza vaccine [LAIV]). And, the more kids who get vaccinated, the greater the efficacy of the vaccine due to “herd immunity” — fewer unvaccinated kids makes it harder for the flu virus to spread in a daycare center or classroom. Kids 6 months to 5 years old are still considered the group of kids who most need the flu vaccine, but updated guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) now recommend that all older kids and teens get it, too. Kids 6 months to 5 years old are still considered the group of kids who most need the flu vaccine, but updated guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) now recommend that all older kids and teens get it, too. For children aged 6 months through 8 years: • For the 2013–14 season, administer 2 doses (separated by at least 4 weeks) to children who are receiving influenza vaccine for the first time. Clinically significant adverse events that follow vaccination should be reported to the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) online ( http://www. Those younger than 9 who have been vaccinated in the past might still need two doses if they have not received at least two flu vaccinations since July 2010. DTaP: Diphtheria, tetanus, and acellular pertussis vaccine Rota: This third dose may be needed, depending on the brand of vaccine used in previous immunizations. * All children between 6 months and 5 years of age would have to be vaccinated against the flu before _starting_ daycare or preschool, so as to be able to submit the “OPT-IN” paper work on the start day. Medically, the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention both strongly recommend routine flu vaccine for everyone older than 6 months and especially for children younger than 5. * For those students with the OPT-IN paper work in their computer-based records,… then when/should a ‘flu outbreak’ occur and be duly decreed, then, those OPT-IN children will then NOT be ordered to stay home — for the duration of said decree. However, LAIV should NOT be administered to some persons, including 1) those with asthma, 2) children 2 through 4 years who had wheezing in the past 12 months, or 3) those who have any other underlying medical conditions that predispose them to... Michael During the height of “Bird Flu” propaganda an Illiterate (literally, not figuratively) neighbor of mine ran across the street as I was filling my bird feeder to berate me for exposing the neighborhood to the dreaded “Bird Flu. Influenza: The vaccine is recommended every year for children 6 months and older. Influenza: The vaccine is recommended every year for children 6 months and older. My point is, the body mind in its ultimate wisdom may see an invading flu, as not a great threat, a sickness yes, but something controllable not fatal to the whole body politic, and as an important virus which could be used as a way to rid the... …the proposed policy lets parents opt out of vaccination for medical or religious reasons as long as they keep their kids at home during flu outbreaks. Surely, protecting the health of others by requiring them to be vaccinated or stay home can be justified by trying to prevent the 37 deaths of children who have already died from the flu this season. • Administer influenza vaccine annually to all children beginning at age 6 months. For additional guidance, follow dosing guidelines in the 2013-14 ACIP influenza vaccine recommendations, MMWR 2013. Since the “Influenza vaccine” is “on the schedule” for children as young as 6-months, this is the “gap” the grubmint officials are harping about. Some children in this age group who have been vaccinated previously will also need 2 doses. Seems what allopathic Arthur is saying is,. * Based on the AMA, AAP, and CDC allopathic doctors believing and promoting and “marketing” the “herd immunity virus theory” as the “gold standard” of modern medical science acheivement (and given that... In other words, even if you believe in vaccines, even if you think they’re wonderful and the world would collapse without them, when it comes to the flu, things are not what they seem. All should be making sure Rhode Island and the rest of the nation adopt mandatory flu vaccination policies. High-risk groups include, but aren’t limited to, kids younger than 5 years old, and those with chronic medical conditions, such as asthma, heart problems, sickle cell anemia, diabetes, or human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). Note: Hepatitis B vaccine (HBV) — introduced for children in 1993/1994. The cartilage in your joints are produced by an organism that is not per se human, but at one time it was an invader which has been assimilated to become part of a colony of organisms that make up what is called a human being. It has come to me over years of thinking about this subject, that flus can/are a beneficial thing to the whole body. For most healthy, nonpregnant persons aged 2 through 49 years, either LAIV or IIV may be used. You can sign up for his free emails at I agree with you totally Jon, what people fail to realize is, they already have a vaccine manufacturing plant inside their own bodies. Any dose not administered at the recommended age should be administered at a subsequent visit, when indicated and feasible. It’s especially important for high-risk kids to be vaccinated. In determining whether a patient has some pandemic illness, and especially early in the game when researchers are still trying to figure out what’s going on, they need to actually isolate that virus from the patient and show it is present in huge... It can take up to 2 weeks after the shot is given for the body to build up immunity against the flu. which seems to be the case for and a reason for vaccines and this alludes to a game plan of the so called masters of the universe. They are not very good when one experiencing a flu, we become headachy, the runs, vomiting and fever, but they do benefit the body. Instead the main dialogue is about health care, instead of maintaining health. Nominated for a Pulitzer Prize, he has worked as an investigative reporter for 30 years, writing articles on politics, medicine, and health for CBS Healthwatch, LA Weekly, Spin Magazine, Stern, and other newspapers and magazines in the US and Europe. Vaccine schedule 2014:. * The OPT-OUT children will be ordered to stay home — for the duration of said decree. Mites that live in your ears, living on the earwax and protecting the ears from invaders, they live in your eyelashes…inside of them are viruses and bacterium native only to their genus. The twist: Along with the usual vaccination opponents, the ACLU has joined the fight — on the critics’ side. This is why a blood transfusion works within parameters of blood type, but organs may be rejected completely, we dealing with different organisms here. HBV: Hepatitis B vaccine. The government telling parents what to do when it comes to their children’s health is hardly new. Opinion: Mandating Flu Shots Is the Moral Choice. And internal organs rely or a whole body defense systems to protect it. Blood is tougher stuff, being exposed to the outside environment, through its purpose of supplying oxygen to muscle and brain. as long as you keep it healthy and not confused, healthy immune systems can easily deal with any invader. For instance, in the summer of 2009, the CDC stopped testing patients who walked into clinics and hospitals with generalized “flu symptoms. Routine vaccination:. The main concern at this time was to aid the population of non-responders to the initial MMR, and to boost and/or elicit a response at an age where most of disease was schedule under MMRV. [1] It could be a little tricky getting an allopathic doctor, in some jurisdictions, to give you OPT-OUT paper work. Joyce, the admin assistant, will do a dip of the database — via her web broswer — to pull up the list of OPT-OUT children — so as to then merge those names and addresses into the “you are ordered to not come to class (for such and such dates)”... describe the process used to isolate mrna from the other types of rna?

The first step in isolating total RNA from cells or tissue is to break open the cells under denaturing conditions. In 1979, Chirgwin et al. devised a method for the efficient isolation of total RNA by homogenization in a 4 M solution of the potent protein denaturant guanidinium thiocyanate with 0.1 M 2-mercaptoethanol to break protein disulfide bonds. Chirgwin then isolated RNA by ethanol extraction or by ultracentrifugation through cesium chloride. In 1987 Chomczynski and Sacchi modified this method to devise a rapid single-step extraction procedure using a mixture of guanidinium thiocyanate and phenol-chloroform, a method especially useful for processing large numbers of samples or for isolation of RNA from small quantities of cells or tissue. Many of the kits currently available are based on these two methods, with proprietary mixes of guanidinium thiocyanate and phenol-chloroform for optimum results. However, these methods are not without drawbacks. Sedimentation of RNA by ultracentrifugation results in RNA pellets that are notoriously difficult to resuspend, and organic extraction can lead to loss or fragmentation of RNA. If RNA is to be used in subsequent enzymatic reactions, salt residues resulting from use of guanidinium thiocyanate may interfere with results. In addition, methods employing guanidinium thiocyanate may result in poor RNA yields from plant tissue samples. Some of the available kits offer alternative lysis methods such as detergent lysis and replace organic extraction with adsorption to an affinity matrix. Isolation of mRNA relies primarily on base-pairing between the polyA+ residues found at the 3' end of most eukaryotic mRNA molecules and a synthetic chain of thymine residues (oligo [dT]n, where n denotes the number of T residues). Oligo (dT) cellulose is currently the most widely used matrix for mRNA isolation. The procedure can be carried out using batch binding and washing, whereby the matrix is suspended in solution,

What erroneous media-perpetuated depiction of reality most annoys you?

As (hopefully) many people reading this are aware, there are a lot of depictions of reality perpetuated in the media which partially inaccurate, or so inaccurate they're outright wrong, such as: -Explosive decompression in airplanes due to bullets/whatever -Cancer (virtually) always requires chemotherapy -Cancer patients (virtually) always losing their hair -People floating as if "weightless" in elevators that are falling -Unrealistic depictions of love, romance, and relationships -Revolvers holding an absurd amount of bullets (see: virtually all westerns) -Gas tanks exploding when shot -Cars (virtually) always catch fire and/or explode after serious accidents -People "exploding" when exposed to the vacuum of space -Too many more to list, feel free to add your own What erroneous deception (or deceptions) of reality most annoy you? Are there any that you think are especially harmful due to the popular misconceptions they create in the public consciousness? Do you think that these kinds of inaccurate deceptions of reality are necessary to create compelling fiction, or do they otherwise make for "better" fiction in some manner? I will pick a best answer, but I'm not really sure how yet.

The impossible science depicted is what irks me. The almost instantaneous lab results from DNA sequencing. While I know it i much faster than when I used to do it but still it takes time. Same for DNA finger printing with PCR amplification. The random use of sciency sounding verbiage. Given the cost of movies they could afford a decent science adviser to avoid the grossest mistakes. In 'Red Planet' we were admonished that DNA 's nucleotides are A - G - T - P. Remember the original 'The Thing from another World'. All right, they never said the alien was a carrot, quite. They said it was a plant-based alien and this alien's preferred ‘plant’ food was blood. I could swear since it was consuming an organic carbon source that made it a heterotroph rather than an autotrophic plant that fixed its own carbon. Hollywood always has had its own take on science. Avatar had a wonderfully consistent world with the terrestrial animals all being bilateral but clearly with three pairs of limbs and a segmented thorax --- except the humanoids. This was like a train wreck here. Why were the humanoids the only animal with only two pairs of limbs? How did they evolve and what selective pressure reduced one pair of limbs? They could have made a great point about this or kept the planet believable but they just left this oddity dangling. My guess is the blue aliens originally had 6 limbs like the rest of the planet's animal life but someone said they had to be less alien but didn't want to redesign the entire concept to keep it consistent. Of course giant insects or other arthropods are familiar results from radiation exposure in film ‘science’ including my favorite Mothra and the ants in Them. The idiocy of the Matrix using humans to power the machines because insufficient solar radiation can get through to power them is painful! No sunlight, no food either, but they did not say they
